Solar Flares

Watch GOES X-ray intensity with the question hams actually care about: is the daylight side about to lose HF to D-layer absorption?

M-class flares can trigger real daytime pain on the sunlit side. X-class events are the ones that can flatten bands fast and make the dashboard suddenly look dead.
The chart matters most when you combine it with local time. A strong flare when your path midpoint is in daylight is the combination to watch.
Once the flare pulse drops, bands can recover quickly. That makes this one of the most tactical solar pages in the whole stack.
